Visiting Thailand: My First International Trip
There's something magical about the phrase "first international trip." It carries an air of excitement, a touch of nervousness, and a sense of boundless curiosity. For me, that adventure began on July 20, 2024, when I boarded a Philippine Airlines flight to Thailand. It was a night flight, and I landed in Bangkok at midnight. The experience with the Immigration Officer (IO) was smooth, despite my initial worries, and before I knew it, I was officially in Thailand!
My first full day in Bangkok started with a visit to Wat Pho, home to the iconic Reclining Buddha. Words can barely describe the awe I felt standing before this massive golden figure. It's a sight that demands not just your eyes but also your heart. Unfortunately, the weather had its own plans, it started pouring rain. While I had envisioned exploring more of the temple grounds, I decided to head back to my hotel.
The next day was all about relaxation. I spent the morning by the pool with a cold beer in hand. There's something so satisfying about doing nothing on vacation, soaking in the warm air, and letting time slow down. By the afternoon, I decided to mix things up and visit a rooftop bar beside the Ibis Hotel which I forgot the name of, LOL. The view from the top was breathtaking, and with happy hour deals, it was the perfect spot to unwind.
That evening, I met up with a new friend that I met in San Vicente, Palawan in December 2023, we had dinner and caught up over delicious Thai food and later went bar hopping. Bangkok's nightlife has an energy that's hard to describe, lively, colorful, and full of surprises. Every bar felt like its own little world, each with its own vibe and music. It was a night to remember.
I embarked on a boat trip along the Chao Phraya River. The gentle rocking of the boat, the breeze on my face, and the sights of multiple temples lining the riverbank felt almost surreal. Each temple seemed to tell its own story, a testament to Thailand's rich history and culture. It was the perfect way to wrap up my trip, leaving me with a sense of wonder and a promise to return someday.
Looking back, my trip to Thailand was more than just a series of destinations; it was a journey of firsts. From navigating a new country to experiencing its unique blend of history and modernity._kenny🖤
