South of Cebu - July 2023: Exploring the Hidden Gems

Last year, my journey took me to the southern part of Cebu, a region known for its breathtaking landscapes, rich history, and captivating natural wonders. From centuries-old churches to majestic waterfalls, South Cebu offers an eclectic mix of experiences that cater to every type of traveler. In this blog post, I’ll take you through the highlights of my visit, showcasing the stunning places that left a permanent mark on my heart.

Oslob Church

Our adventure began in Moalboal but I don’t have photos of the activities I had there, so that might be another reason to go back, so let’s start in Oslob, a town steeped in history and charm. The Oslob Church, officially known as the Church of the Immaculate Conception, stands as a testament to the town's colonial past. Built in the 19th century, this church showcases beautiful coral stone architecture and complex designs that reflect the Spanish influence. Walking through its halls and admiring the aged but still vibrant image felt like stepping back in time.




The Ruins

Adjacent to the church are the ruins of an old Spanish Cuartel. These remains of a once grand military barracks tell stories of Oslob's past struggles and triumphs. The stone arches and walls, now enveloped in vibrant greenery, provide a picturesque backdrop for photos and a quiet spot for reflection. It's a place where history comes alive, allowing visitors to ponder the passage of time.




Tumalog Falls

Next on our itinerary was Tumalog Falls, a natural marvel that epitomizes the beauty of South Cebu. The falls cascade down a steep cliff, creating a delicate curtain of water that shimmers in the sunlight. The cool, refreshing pool at the base of the falls is perfect for a relaxing dip after a short trek through the forest. Tumalog Falls is not just a visual treat but also a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.




Aguinid Falls

Our exploration of Cebu’s waterfalls continued with Aguinid Falls in the town of Samboan. This multi-tiered waterfall system offers a thrilling adventure for those who enjoy climbing and exploring. Each level of Aguinid Falls presents a unique challenge and reward, from gentle cascades to powerful torrents. The lush surroundings and the invigorating experience of scaling the falls make it a must-visit for adventure seekers.








Binalayan Hidden Falls

Finally, we visited Binalayan Hidden Falls, another spectacular waterfall in the region. Known for its crystal-clear waters and tranquil ambiance, Binalayan Hidden Falls is a haven for nature lovers. The falls are surrounded by jungly forests, and the sound of water crashing against the rocks creates a soothing soundtrack. It's a perfect spot to unwind and immerse oneself in nature's embrace. Just be careful the trail is slippery 😉





South Cebu in 2023 has been an unforgettable journey filled with historical insights, natural beauty, and thrilling adventures. Each destination we visited offered a unique glimpse into the rich tapestry of this remarkable region. Whether you're a history buff, an adventure enthusiast, or someone seeking tranquility, South Cebu has something extraordinary to offer. Discovering the Heart of Cambodia: A Journey of Awe and Simplicity.

This year, I traveled to four Asian countries, but Cambodia stood out to me the most. The trip was a humbling experience for many reasons. first Cambodian beer I was deeply touched by the kindness of the Cambodian people. Their lives are simple, yet they radiate happiness. Their smiles and eagerness to help guests made me feel so welcome. with the tour guide, Sambo. One of the most memorable parts of my trip was a boat ride on Tonle Sap Lake (belonging to the Mekong River system). Tonle Sap is the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia. Having lunch at a floating restaurant was a unique experience and watching crocodiles being fed was both exciting and a bit scary. Visiting the temples in Cambodia felt like stepping back in time. Angkor Wat, one of the largest temples in the world, was truly impressive. However, the Ta Prohm temple left me amazed. Kawasan falls in a half of the day!

My Group, plans to go for an outing in Kawasan Falls, we rent a van and we start early like 3:45 am We arrived at the place around 6:30 am, and unfortunately, We forgot to take group photos.                   and of course, there's no way to forget my chance to take photos of myself. the entrance pay going into the place is 45.00 PHP per head, and the cottage is 500.00 PHP we had our breakfast there and around 11:30 am we decided to go to another place. A Week in Camotes Island with Family - August 2022

Since Camotes Island is where my mother was born and raised and where my sisters spent their formative years and received their education, it has always held special meaning for me and my family. (Left to right: Katrina, Kairi, Karen, Riana Karah, me, Auntie Jasu, Mama Nab's, Krista, Teddy, Kynnzo) My family last visited  Camotes Island  in 2018, but we were incomplete since Karen was not with us. We visited again in August 2022 to celebrate my aunt's birthday and to spend our vacation on the Island. First Day : We celebrated my Aunt's birthday at Camao Resort , at Sitio Camao Southern Poblacion, where the above photo was taken.                                                                                     Isaiah Kynnzo Mama Nab's and Tita Menia             Second Day : Our lunch destination was  Masbas Eco Bay Resort , where we also went swimming. The Famous Street Calle Crisologo in Vigan City

Spontaneously, while talking with Yana over a video call, we decided to visit Vigan City after our Baguio trip.  We booked our ticket to Baguio last April, and the flight was in June. Originally, it should have been 4 nights in Baguio, but I suddenly mentioned to her that I wanted to see Vigan City and the famous Calle Crisologo, and of course, she wanted to visit the place as well. Calle Crisologo in Vigan, Ilocos Sur, is one of the most beautiful streets in the Philippines.
